ASA 106 - ADVANCED COASTAL CRUISING

“Challenge yourself with overnight, offshore passages, and night time landfalls!”

This 5-day advanced sailing course provides full understanding of sail shape controls and hull design principles, entering foreign ports, weather and heavy weather techniques, while practicing the navigational skills you have learned in ASA 105. Spinnaker sailing might also be an option - depending on training vessel.

We prefer to teach this course in the Caribbean islands during the winter months, although one or two courses will be held in New England between Block Island and the downeast Maine coast over the summer.

Each course provides 120 hours over a five or six day live aboard format, aboard one of our larger Hunter yachts (up to 50ft). You will be responsible for purchasing your own inflatable PFD/harness, tether, and personal strobe light - amongst other safety items. A passport is most likely required for all Caribbean courses.

Given the length of the trip and the size of the vessel, we permit up to five students per class.
